![]() Some patinas should be done when the Metal Coating is dry, some when its wet. When applying the Metal Coatings to ferrous metals (iron, steel, and aluminum), a primer must be used to protect the underlying metal. Type C is available in brass, bronze, copper, darkened iron, gold, iron, and silver and is sold in 8oz., 16oz., 1 gal. The Metal Waxes may be applied to warm or cold surfaces. One gallon of Metal Wax generally covers 300 sq. Metal Wax is available in 2oz., 8oz., 16oz., 32oz., and 1 gallon sizes. Type B is available in brass, bronze, copper, darkened iron, gold, iron, pewter, and silver and is sold in 8oz., 16oz., 32oz., 1 gal., and 5 gal. These waxes contain UV inhibitors and hardeners making them incredibly durable and long lasting on all types of metal. Type C contains more metal than Type B and dries hard enough to be polished with a polishing wheel. Additionally, more patina may be added after burnishing. Once dry, either may be burnished with steel wool in order to highlight or adjust the patina. Patinas may be applied to both whether wet or dry. The Metal Coatings are available in two different formulas - B and C. One Gallon of Metal Coating will cover 100 square feet (this includes the recommended two layers). The Metal Coatings are very durable outside (10 to 15 years) and are non-hazardous. ![]() Among the Traditional Patinas, Liver of Sulfur (brown) and Tiffany (green) patinas work the best with the Metal Coatings. Rust is slow to develop compared to other black patinas which allows greater flexibility when applying a sealer. ![]() This patina works quickly and has excellent durability.
